Thanks to one of my readers, we have found the one animal shelter in 5 counties, Critterville Wildlife, about 35 miles south of us in Bucksport, and they specialize in baby raccoons! Piccolo Bandito has been left in the caring hands of Susan Wotton, the director of this organization, in the company of several dozen other abandoned raccoons, baby skunks, chipmunks, ground hogs, and more. It was like a visit to Dr. Doolittle! Susan volunteered many years ago at a rehabilitation organisation in Mount Desert Island, where she found her calling and eventually founded her own organisation.

Piccolo Bandito has been rehydrated, cleaned up, and is now resting. Hoping for the best for the wee cub. Once it’s big enough it will get to socialize with its peers in the yard, and by October should be ready to be set free.
Thank you community for pointing us there!
Yay! So happy that little guy /gal is not out in the heat now. Thank you :)
